There are many types of squash, but ultimately squash comes in two basic forms: summer and winter varieties with most being available year round.
- Summer Squash - are thin-skinned and more moist.
- Winter Squash - have hard, thick rinds and are more dry.
Squash can be served fresh in salads but is more widely cooked, baked or fried and sometimes is stuffed with a flavorful meat mixture
